2 DF Motocross Championships 2006

Congratulations to Capt Philip Gunn, 31 CAV, who recently won the above championships in Kilworth. This 2-day event tests skill, speed, and navigation to complete the courses while staying on yer bike ! This is another feather in 31CAV's Glengarry, as Philip took the mantle from Tpr Brian Landers victory in last years inaugural event. Brian finished 4th overall this year.

CISM - World Orienteering Championships 2006
Congratulations to Lt.Kevin O'Reilly, 31 RAR, who successfully qualifed for the Irish military team for representation at the upcoming 39th CISM Championships in Brazil. Kevin qualified from a trial course, 12.7km, held in Innishboffin on Aug 10, to be part of a 7 man team, that will compete in 3 days racing in Brazil in November. Kevin's achievement is to be commended, following his representation on the 2005 team in Finland. This rounds off another good year for Kevin, having finished 3rd (M21A)  in the RDF Championships, Boyle, in March. Pte Seamus O'Boyle, 33BN also qualified for the 2nd RDF place, which re-enforces the strength and capability of 1 S. Bde RDF Orienteering in DF competition.

Cork Orienteering Interfirm League, August 2006



A combined RDF team from Bde HQ, 34 Res Inf Bn, 31 RAR finished a very credible 2nd team in the Interfirm  league organised by the Cork Orienteering Club, from May to August. Pictured are Lt's.Kevin O'Reilly, Sean Murphy, Chris Fehily, Sgt Gary Cagney, Lt. Paul Finnegan.
