.... RDF Pay Levy (Dec) - Latest from Reserve Pay Section on Revenue deductions from 1/1/09 for download here
Para 4.16 - Where the income levy has been applied for particular pay periods throughout the year but the minimum threshold of €18,304 p.a has not been exceeded at week 52 then no liability to the income levy applies. In this situation the employer should make an adjustment at week 52 and refund all levy income deducted. Where the employee has not been in continuous employment with an employer throughout the year in question Revenue, rather than the employer, will deal with any refund of income levy due. For more contact your local Revenue Office.

....RDF Awareness Campaign (June) - Prior to the National Recruitment Campaign (Aug), the 1 S.Bde board are seeking written articles (300-500 words) from reservists for publication in the Military PR machine, describing personal experience while in service, be it courses, exercises, etc. that would attract new recruits and develop the public awareness of the Reserve. Submissions to any of the following NLT June 30 - mickcurran@eircom.net; mirmcmahon@iolfree.ie; or eddie.doyle@esb.ie. For further info, inquire at unit level.


.... Lt.Col Retirements (June) - Lt.Col John Quinlivan (EO 1 S.Bde RDF) presents to Lt.Col Joe Cox (EO 4 W.Bde RDF) & Lt.Col Pat Holohan (EO 2 E.Bde RDF) on their respective retirements from the Army Reserve. Also present is Lt.Col Ger O'Halloran (EO RDFTA)

Irish Delegation - Exercise Combined Endeavor 2008
....Reservist on Overseas Exercise (May) - Lt Sean Murphy, HQ 1 S.Bde RDF, recently completed an overseas training exercise on the Irish CIS team for Combined Endeavour, an international NATO/PFP comms exercise in Baumholder, Germany, in May 08. Read Article & Photos here

....B Coy, 43 BN (UNIFIL) Reunion - 30th anniversary  re-union of B coy personnel who served from the 1 S. Bde and Cork area on Sat 07 June 2008 in Collins Bks Cork. Mass will be celebrated in the Garrison Church @ 18.00hrs followed by a wreath laying ceremony on the BK square. Refreshments will follow in the Garrison NCOs mess. Candidates  to be recommended by Unit CO's, namely of  2/Lt/Lt or Cpl ranks. Pre-course qualifying tests include Medical & Life Tests Parts 1,2,3.  Inquire at Unit level for more.
