Orienteering League (Oct)
Orienteering League (Oct)The
Bde individual league for 06/07 will commence on Nov 5,
with 7 events (4 to count) leading into the Bde Championships in

.......Integration (Sept)
The new Integrated
Reserve will commence on Jan 1,2007. Please observe in your
local unit for relevant appointments and the latest info, such as the
Integration flyer, which can be downloaded from the Training page
.......Mobilisation (Sept)
A mobilisation of all 1 S.Bde units will take place on the weekend Sept 30/Oct 1. Enquire from your Coy Comdr.

The following courses of instruction are available for application for 2007, run by the BTC, 1 S.Bde RDF;

- Standard NCO
- MOI
- Officer Logs & Admin (School of Admin)
Interested candidates are requested to enquire at unit
level, and must pay adherence to the Defence Force Fitness Test, which
is a pre-requisite.Fitness testing requirements can be seen here, where G3 is the minimun accepted.

The 1 S. Bde BTC RDF successfully prepared Bde
students for the 2 Infantry Young Officers Cse, 2006 and co-ordinated
and implemented Module 1 of the Pot.Officers Cse, photos which can be

Training Assessment of Non-Integrated Units (Aug)
The
dates for the above assessement on 7/8 October, for the 1 S Bde RDF has
been re-arranged for 14/15 October 2006. Please check with your Coy Comdr
for more details.

Lt Denise Shaw has been
appointed Bde liasion officer for recruitment & retention for

Lt Sean Murphy, Bde HQ,
and Cpl Eamonn Quaid, 31 LSB, have been appointed the Bde liasion members
for dealings with the RDFTA in conjunction with the representation of
the 1 S. Res Bde on www.military.ie website. They can be

.......Sam Browne Belts (Aug)
Approval has been granted for Officers of the RDF to
wear Sam Browne Belts as part of their Service Dress No 1. The necessary
amendments to Dress Instruction and to Administrative Instruction L3 will be
promulgated in due course. Funding for the provision of belts is
currently under discussion. Pending the conclusion of these discussions, RDF
officers who are currently in possession of Sam Browne belts are now
authorised to wear them.
.......Retirement of Comdt Gerry O'Doherty (July)
July 06 marked the retirement of one
of the reserves long standing officers, Comdt Gerry O'Doherty. Gerry
served the majority of his years with 3 Fd Sigs, Limerick, now 31 CIS,
before been appointed to the 1 S.Comd HQ, now 1 S. Bde Res HQ. The
below photograph was taken at a formal function in Sarsfield Barracks,
Limerick to mark his 44 years to the state, 35 as an officer.
